The new version 1.0.0-7r7 of AVIRA Sendmail-Milter for FreeBSD has been
released. New features, enhancements and parameters have been added,
together with a new 30-days evaluation procedure.
* New Features:
- Attachment file extension filter;
- Adware/Spyware Detection Support, in addition to the detection of
jokes, dialers and many forms of malware. This option has been
implemented in the antivirus engine for both on-access and
on-demand scan processes. Moreover, the AVIRA detection technology
also recognizes Security Privacy Risk applications (SPR), Unusual
Runtime Compression Tools and Double Extension Files.
* Enhancements:
- new parameters can be used when configuring the scanner: apart
from the usual categories like Games, Jokes, Dialer, Backdoors, the
following types of malware are implemented:
- Adware/Spyware
- Unusual Runtime Compression Tools
- Double Extension Files
At the same time, the prefix PMS (=Possibly Malicious Software)
was renamed SPR (=Security Privacy Risk);
- the prefixes used in malware detection messages have been
expanded, for more clarity;
- attachment filter added to block email attachments, based on their
file extensions, including archives content;
- Milter messages can now be logged with syslog under a user-defined
category;
- Feedback Agent has been vastly improved and enabled by default at
installation time.
Scanning SAP archives.
* New parameters:
- BlockExtensions - blocks emails which have an attachment with the
specified file extensions. Each extension is separated by a
semicolon. Apart from MIME header, this also applies to archived
files. (BlockExtensions exe;scr;pif)
- AddHeaderToNotice - the original header of the infected mail will
be appended to the postmaster notice mail.
- SapCarProgram - specifies the path to the SAP archives unpacking
tool (avira.conf configuration file).
* Fixed Bug:
- Feedback Agent no longer depends on inexistent IO::Socket::INET under
FreeBSD 4.x.
* 30-days Trial Evaluation Included:
Due to an increased amount of product trial requests received in the
last months, the AVIRA Team decided to offer a 30-days trial of the
AVIRA antivirus solutions. The Installation Kit comes fully featured.
By default, the Update Service is disabled after the 30-days
evaluation period. To further benefit of Update Service you may
acquire the appropriate commercial license. In order to obtain a
